Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 18, 2026

This page explains the cookies and similar technologies (likelocalStorage) that FixlyGuide uses, what each one does, and how you can control them. For broader data practices, see our Privacy Policy.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser. We also use related browser storage (like localStorage) for the same purposes. We refer to all of these as "cookies" on this page.

Cookie categories we use

1. Strictly necessary

Always on

Required for the site to work. These keep you signed in, remember your cookie-banner choice, and protect against abuse. You cannot opt out of these without breaking core functionality.

  • fixly:cookie-consent — remembers whether you accepted or declined this banner.
  • sb-* (Supabase auth) — keeps you signed in across pages.

2. Functional

Optional

Remember your preferences so the site feels personal — like the guides you've bookmarked or your last calculator inputs. Disabling these means we'll forget those preferences between visits.

  • Saved guides (when signed out, stored locally on your device).
  • Calculator inputs (e.g., water-heater calculator defaults).

3. Analytics

Optional

Help us understand which guides are useful and where readers get stuck. We only track aggregate, non-identifying patterns (page views, time on page, search terms). We don't currently load third-party analytics scripts; if that changes, we'll update this page and re-prompt for consent.

4. Affiliate & marketing

Optional

When you click an affiliate link (e.g., to Amazon or Home Depot), the destination site may set its own cookies to attribute the referral and pay us a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate FixlyGuide earns from qualifying purchases. We log the click on our side (anonymized) so we can see which recommendations are useful. See our Affiliate Disclosure and Privacy Policy for more.

How to control cookies

  • In your browser: all major browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will break sign-in and the consent banner.
  • On this site: use the button below to reset your consent choice and re-show the banner.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page whenever we add, remove, or change a category of cookies. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
