Before You Apply

Fixly Guide reviews contractors before allowing them into our homeowner marketplace. Please make sure your business meets the basic requirements below before submitting an application.

Contractors don't pay to be approved.

Applying and being reviewed are free. You are only charged the $49.99/month DFW Founding Contractor membership after Fixly Guide approves your business and you choose to activate. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the Fixly Guide contractor network.

To apply, your business must:

Carry current general liability insurance

Every contractor applying to Fixly Guide must maintain current general liability insurance that meets Fixly Guide marketplace requirements. Be prepared to provide:

  • Insurance company
  • Policy information
  • Coverage dates
  • Certificate of Insurance

Hold required professional licenses

You must hold all licenses, registrations, permits, or professional credentials required by the State of Texas and applicable local jurisdictions for the work you advertise through Fixly Guide. Requirements vary by trade and jurisdiction — regulated examples include:

  • Electrical contracting
  • HVAC / air conditioning and refrigeration
  • Plumbing
  • Certain specialty or locally regulated services

Be a legitimate operating business

Fixly Guide must be able to reasonably verify that your company is a real operating business. We may check:

  • Business name and registration when applicable
  • DBA / assumed name
  • Website and online presence
  • Business phone, email and address
  • Google Business Profile
  • Years in business and service areas

Serve the Dallas–Fort Worth market

The Founding Contractor Program is launching in DFW. Applicants must currently serve at least part of the Dallas–Fort Worth area. You can specify cities, counties, ZIP codes or a service radius.

Accurately represent your services

Contractors may only advertise services they are qualified and legally permitted to perform. Selecting unrelated trades to receive more leads is not allowed.

Maintain professional business practices

Fixly Guide expects contractors to:

  • Communicate professionally
  • Respond to homeowner requests reasonably promptly
  • Provide clear estimates or contracts
  • Accurately represent credentials
  • Follow applicable laws and respect homeowner privacy
  • Avoid deceptive marketing, misleading pricing and fraudulent insurance practices
  • Honor written agreements

Insurance-related projects in Texas

Contractors participating in insurance-related projects must comply with applicable Texas insurance laws and regulations. Fixly Guide may decline or remove contractors who engage in prohibited insurance practices.

  • Offering to illegally waive insurance deductibles
  • Misrepresenting insurance policy coverage
  • Acting as an insurance adjuster when legally prohibited
  • Misleading homeowners about insurance claims
  • Fraudulent insurance practices

This is general marketplace policy information, not legal advice.

What does Fixly Guide check?

Fixly Guide performs a reasonable business-screening process before approving contractor membership. Depending on the trade, available records and information submitted, we may review:

Business identity

  • Legal or operating business name
  • DBA / assumed name
  • Business address, phone and email
  • Website
  • Business registration where applicable

Insurance

  • Current general liability insurance
  • Certificate of Insurance
  • Policy expiration
  • Relevant coverage information

Licensing (where required)

  • License number and type
  • Licensing authority
  • License status and expiration
  • Name associated with the license

Service qualifications

  • Services offered and trade specialties
  • DFW service area
  • Years in business
  • Certifications and professional affiliations where relevant

Reputation

  • Google reviews and other reputable review platforms
  • Public complaints and business history
  • Patterns of serious unresolved complaints

A single negative review does not disqualify a business. We look for patterns and material concerns.

Online presence

  • Website where available
  • Google Business Profile
  • Social media business pages
  • Business contact consistency

Not having a website does not automatically disqualify a contractor.

Professional conduct

  • False credentials or fake company information
  • Deceptive advertising or misrepresentation of services
  • Insurance fraud concerns
  • Serious unresolved consumer complaints
  • Identity inconsistencies, fraudulent reviews or fake project photos
  • Repeated inability to verify company information

Fixly Guide screening is designed to improve marketplace trust but does not guarantee the quality, safety, workmanship, availability, pricing, or future performance of any contractor. Homeowners should still review contracts, verify project-specific requirements, and make their own hiring decisions.

How to become a Fixly Guide contractor

  1. 1

    Make sure you qualify

Review the Fixly Guide contractor requirements before applying. You should have:

    • Active general liability insurance
    • Required licenses or credentials
    • Legitimate business information
    • DFW service coverage
    • Accurate service information
    • Professional business practices
  2. 2

    Tell us about your business

Submit business identity, services, service area and business operations. Applying is free.

  3. 3

Share your general liability insurance details and, where your trade requires it, licensing information. Documents stay private.

  4. 4

    We review your business

Our team reviews contractor applications before membership activation. We verify key business information and look for licensing, insurance, identity, service-area and reputation issues that could affect homeowners. No payment is collected during review.

  5. 5

    Get approved

If approved, you become eligible to activate a DFW Founding Contractor membership — if founding capacity remains in your primary category.

  6. 6

Activate membership and build your profile

Only now does billing begin at $49.99/month. Then complete your logo, description, services, service area, photos, hours, languages, certifications, financing and credentials.

  7. 7

    Become eligible for homeowner projects

Once approved, active, verified and reasonably complete, your business becomes eligible for Fixly Guide project matching. Fixly Guide does not guarantee a specific number of leads or jobs.

1. Make sure you qualify

Applying is free. You will not be charged unless your business is approved and you choose to activate your membership.
